Default So much angry!

A combination of an idiot doing illegal stuff, and horrible journalism.

NO. NO NO NO NO NO. The dog is NOT a service dog. Shopko totally had every right to kick her out. THIS IS ILLEGAL. Journalists: DO SOME RESEARCH.

It seems like they the dog Was a service dog ... Just not her.

Personally I think the business was kind of jerky about it. The dog seemed well trained

No, that is not a service dog. A service dog is a dog trained to mitigate his or her handler's disability.

If anything, it's a therapy dog. What she did was illegal.

End of story.

I see the point of the article, though it is terrible journalism and very skewed and factually wrong.

The employee WAS breaking the law by asking, it sounds like that is the only real point they knew and were getting at. The rest of the commentary is all over the place. The dog is not a service dog since she doesn't have a disabled handler, the dog had no right to be in the store as he wasn't working, and the handler is an idiot.

While I usually error on the side if leniency I have to agree, the woman is abusing the caution business owners have over the service dog issue. That's a bummer, really.

Laws are laws. My dog would act perfectly fine in a ShopKo, too, but that doesn't mean I should take him there or legally can. You have to realize the liabilities that come along with a service dog in a store and the extra effort employees have to make to keep places clean. When the service dog is being used a tool that is something that legally there is no way around and they must be accepting of. When the dog shouldn't even be there I can see why they wouldn't want to risk the liability of having him there.

Well I can't really say she was in the wrong since I would be a bit of a hypocrite if I did:

When my JRT, bear was young I used to take him everywhere, even places where dogs "weren't allowed" by putting him in one of those sling things (don't know the exact name) to get him used to as many different situations as I could (I also took him on foot to places when I knew I could get away with it) he was gong to be a show dog & I wanted him as socialized as possible.

BUT I NEVER tried to pass him off as a service dog though ... He was very well behaved so I imagine people assumed he was, but I was never outright asked, if I had Ben my answer would have been no.

Congratulations, you break the law and make life harder for legitimate handlers. Nice to see you enjoy flaunting that around, too. Want a cookie?

Just because people don't ask you to leave doesn't make it okay.

Want a cookie for being a jerk, too? You know just be she someone doesnt share your opinion on something doesn't make them a horrible person.

For your information if I would have been asked to leave I would have ... I was just never asked to leave ... So I didn't.

FYI I have plenty of cookies of my on thank you, I don't need any from you.

I know I am not well liked on this forum because I am not part of the "click" & I am very liberal in my views on things & am not afraid to express it, & that's cool but its not going to stop me from posting either
