For the right dog, absolutely! A good companion is important to me and I'd be willing to pay for it.

Well, met her and he's a complete doll!! He does tricks and cuddled with me on the chair, he's likely going to be too big to fly, but frankly after meeting him, I don't care... I'll drive or Cargo him every now and then...

He sooo smart, she was a mess :-(

She called my vet, he was in surgery but the girls spoke so highly of me and how I cared for my pets she said she doesn't care if she talks directly to him..

She also totally rescinded the fee, she was only asking to, as someone here guessed, keep flippers away, there was not enough "profit" in him for them to bother...

She only asked that I think it over and if I'm sure come back on Sunday, that way I have no regrets and she and I both know its not a impulse decision..

I'm glad he's only 15 minutes away!!

I can't believe I had given up finding an adult rehome and decided to start looking at puppy options and found one I adore the same day!!

Oh I'm so glad this is working out for you, but for mostly selfish reasons, I want to see more pictures of him!! He sounds like a total gem. <3

VERY happy for you, Lauraleigh. You tragically lost your other pets, but in so may be saving the life of another (not that his life sounds like it's in danger; he seems like his current owner cares a lot). I can't think of a better way to honor the ones you lost.

Tango was a foster, so a bit of a different situation. But what I had planned to do was ask a small fee (definitely NOT $200, even though I spent way more than that on his surgeries) if he had been adopted locally, just to ensure they actually were serious about him (this in addition to vet references and a lengthy application). As it turned out, he was adopted by a Chazzer and she paid to fly him home. The way I see it, if someone is serious enough about adopting the dog to freaking FLY the dog home (which isn't cheap!), then there's no reason they need to pay a "rehoming fee" on top of that. Same would go for someone driving a long distance to get the dog. Locally, though, it's a good safeguard. I don't know that I would pay $200, but I'd certainly be willing to pay $50-$100.
