Default Breeds you'd own except for one little thing

What are some dog breeds that really suit you, or you'd really like to own or look into, except for one little thing?

I'm not talking about like "I'd love a LBG but I have too many guests over" or "I'd love a BC but they're too high energy" or "a APBT but I don't want to deal with DA" or something. Like, really little issues like drooling, too vocal, you'd never import and they aren't available here, aesthetic issues...

I just walked past my neighbor's pomeranian, and THE. BARK. I have adored every single pomeranian I've ever met, they're so cute, so trainable, etc. But I don't think I'd ever get one because their bark is the worst noise I've ever heard a dog make.

Honestly?

It's been about 15 years since I sat and obsessed over what breeds I want to own.... I used to, when I was a kid and teenager. But I haven't felt like that is so long.

Even getting Fred didn't feel like a decision or a kid in a sweet store. I think as you get older, you just know what you like.

Or... That's just how I operate

I pretty much like all dogs... There's not many i wouldn't own given half a chance. I just always liked short haired, medium to large very athletic dogs (gsp, vizsla, boxer).

I can't say there's any I'm NEARLY sold on... I'm quite all or nothing.

You'd have a hard time convincing me to get a rough collie because hair. However, I may still own one at some point. I just much prefer smoothies.

I love, and would consider owning poodles, but to be honest the idea of grooming them puts me off - maybe that's more than just a 'little' thing. And then I think how easy they are in between grooms and I could get them professionally down, etc. But then I think of how absolutely crap I am at grooming my own dogs (and they are just wash and wear, quick brush everyday kinda dogs) and I just think I'm delusional. If I ever couldn't afford grooming, my clipping would look abominable.

So although I haven't written off a poodle in the future, I'm still unsure about the grooming side of things.

A standard poodle, they're awesome dogs but I couldn't do the hair.

Everything else I think has many more "buts".

There are a couple breeds that I really like but are too noisy for me, I already live with a delightful barky creature and do not want another to counter him.

I think people have a scary idea of standard poodle grooming, if you keep it short it's really not much trouble at all. He gets 'home haircuts' with hair-cutting scissors and every once in a while a proper clipping. Wesley's coat is so short he only needs brushing on the head/ears to keep the tangles out.

I'd have a Newfoundland if it wouldn't make me flat broke and get me kicked out of my house.

All grooming scares me, the cost of getting it done properly and the fact I used to make my wheaten bleed while giving him the worlds worst haircut ever.

I really like Brittanys and Aussies except for the nubby tails.

Though there are other breeds that I think are a better match so I probably wouldn't own one anyway, they are two breeds I really enjoy. I just like tails.
