Default Babes Vet visit

Well Babe and i went to the vet this morning. Other then a case of worms and ear infection and low weight she's fine. My vet said he hadent heard or seen anything about a lost Pitbull of her description but said he would keep an eye out and also agreed to let me hang up an ad on the office board. I still need to figure out the whole newspaper thing and have posted some found ads online.

Babe has been great so far like i have said before not a single problem. But of course Zeus never gave me a problem until he got comfortable here and started to show his true colors lol . I know this is'nt the health board but I figured why not post it here. I was wondering I know that she MAY have a home out there but she also may not and if not and i do find her a new home eventually I want to have her "fixed". Im just wondering because once I know she's ok to be around my dogs I have 3 active male huskies and 2 active male Chinooks that i don't want to risk covering her during a heat cycle even though i most likely would catch it before something happend i would really like to have her "fixed" as soon as possible.

Im just wondering what do you think ? I think I probley should no matter what because even if she has a home this would save them a trip to the vet and unborn puppies the pain of an unsure future. But I don't know advice or opinions would be great.

Just my thoughts on this. If she has a home, the owners might not appreciate that liberty being exercised on their dog (in the event they're looking for her). However, when you're certain she's un-accounted for and is going to be a family member, then take her in.

Good advice Andrew. Her family might be actively and painfully searching for their dog. I'd continue to keep her separate from the other dogs in the meantime. If nobody comes forward after a reasonable time, then I would think about it.

Yes but I plan on giving her owners a good amount of time to contact me if they care or even if she has them. And i don't want to keep her shut up in the laundry room this entire time its not fair to her.

In the pet store the other day (either that or I was browsing online), I believe I saw a diaper of sorts for female dogs in heat. I'm wondering if that might allow her to go into the general population as she'd then be covered and spare you having to make a decision about spaying until it's been determined the owners aren't coming forward?

when I found an akita and tried to find the owner to no avail i called some no kill shelters..they had a waiting list for up to one year. U might consider putting your name on the list just in case...u could always take it off if u found a home.
