Upper level maybe? And the desire to promote from within? But Denis' experience was purely entry level no-face-online application. Maybe he didn't luck out?

OTOH if it's an online program and you really don't want to do it full-time, why not go back part-time? Just take two classes. Get started now instead of putting it off.

I will say that a sociology degree is INCREDIBLY flexible, and if you want to go into HR management, a sociology degree would look fantastic. If you're really close to finishing it, you should think about it... just one or two classes at a time.
I know. There's been so many times when I think "You ONLY NEED LIKE 1 MORE SEMESTER! JUST DO IT!" but I just do not want to. Really do not want. I think it's more mental than anything, I really have not had a hard life, but when I was there it was pretty darn bad. Not the school, but the personal part of my life, and I don't even want to step foot on that campus again
But I know that I should just suck it up, finish that degree, then move on and get an HR Management degree.

I think maybe I just need to post a sign over my bed that says "Do you want to be throwing dog food bags when you're 40?" lol

And I could definitely do the online HR Management degree part time. I just worry about getting myself in over my head.

This is what I have to say to remind myself to finish my grad school applications.

You just helped me decide to work on my personal statement today, thank you, I don't want to be wrestling an aggressive dane and cleaning out a sick schnauzers crate when I'm 40. LOL

Beats me! I'm really glad state seems to be different and Denis got in on merit though. I don't know as many people in state jobs as I do in federal.

Getting into a State vs Federal jobs is a completely different thing. I work for the State and Dan has a federal job. I don't think it's easily possible to get into federal jobs without veterans preference... Their whole hiring process is just so different.

For my State job, I filled out an online application, got an interview, got the job (even as a non-citizen).

A very real danger lol. I had a job many years ago where I had this temptation...but my uncle worked there as well and swore he'd get me fired if I didn't move on :P

I do! But I want to be making 50-75k a year doing it. Not gonna happen!

I have nothing to contribute but as a minor this thread is extremely helpful in helping me make life decisions.

I don't really want to be working for a fire protection company, nor as a kennel tech for the rest of my life...

BUT, my major isn't offered east of the Mississippi, so unless DH actually puts on some big boy pants and moves back out west with me, I'm stuck here for a while.

In your position, I would finish the degree since you are SO close. Just suck it up and do it. Then move on to what you want, as it will definitely look better on a resume, as well as help you score an awesome HR job.

I would just finish the degree. I hated my major and wanted no parts of a job involving it, but I had spent too much time to waste all of the credits. An advisor helped me pick a different major I would loathe a bit less that the majority of my credits would transfer to and I finished that degree. Now I'm working on what I actually want to do. School sucks a lot less now that I have something to show for all my time, lol.
