I forgot earlier!
I never thought I could be a sighthound person, but I think I would love living with a certain type of Whippet. A friend of mine has an 8mth old from (I believe) racing lines and that dog is awesome. I love her. She's unlike any other Whippet I've ever met (who've all been pet/show lines) and just amazes me. I'd like to meet more from similar lines someday to see if they're all similar to her or not. And I was weird with Aussies. I've loved them for a long time, but waivered on them a lot over the years, unsure if they were actually suited to me or not. There are so many BYB ones around here that made a bad impression. On paper they sounded perfect, but I was never in love with most of them in real life. It took working at my current job to meet a handful of really nice Aussies that made me take another serious look and go "hey, these dogs are everything I've been looking for. Maybe I should reconsider..". And I'm glad I did, because mine anyway is the epitome of everything I've wanted in a dog. And now I get all giddy and happy when I see another nice Aussie. Quote:

This has totally happened to me! I do boarding so I see a lot of different breeds (and get to live with them in my house and really get to know them) and I have to say it has turned me off a LOT of breeds! I was pretty sure I was going to go with a GSD next but I have two super regular GSDs who have made me reconsider (to be fair, I don't think they're the greatest examples, but still).
Koolies were on my maybe list for a while, but after living with one (who I love to bits!) I think they are not for me. Almost, but just not quite. As for the other way around, I've met Mals and a Dutch Shepherd who I just adored right off the bat! But I was at least somewhat interested in those breeds prior to that too, so I don't know if that counts...

I do fall away from breeds I meet. I never want a mal from the ones I've met. I don't want a dog that hard.
Flat coats though... I knew I wanted from when I met Kaleb. Then to test that I went to the specialty and immersed myself in FCRs and their people. Sold me on them. Shelties I've been wishy washy about because some can be so shy and reserved and really hit or miss for drive. But I met a breeder who has dogs I really like and produced a dog that I REALLY like that my friends have so I'm sold on a sheltie for nextdog. Papillons I love still but don't know if I one would fit after meeting them. They're cute and fun but I still don't know.

Yep! I've had several breeds on my "want" list, that after meeting them I knew I would never realistically own. Papillons were one of them, and they're still I breed I very much admire. But I've met several at the training center and while I still love them, I know now that they are definitely not the dog for me. Too cat like
lolAnother breed that immediately pops into mind is the BC. And I still occasionally want I love their energy and handler responsiveness and trainablility, but the intensity and the staring is a big put off. Like previously stated, too serious for my personality. I need a laugh. Hence the sheltie oh BaileyQuote:
lol!On the flip side, I've always thought that terriers were not the breeds for me. Pretty much any of them. But the more I spend time with certain terriers, the more I love them and can picture it happening.

![]() I don't know if I'll ever have another sheltie. I love some of them so much, but many shelties just... not really. I loved mine a lot. Something just doesn't fit right though and I've really had a hard time coming to terms with that. I still have a soft spot for the breed, but I really have a hard time seeing myself with another.

I see so many poorly bred dogs that there are whole swaths of breeds that I feel like UH-UH NO WAY NEVER... and then I meet a well bred one and wonder who is the exception, the ones I'm seeing or the well bred one.

Shiba Inus. I don't like small breeds, but I covet all the Shibas. We spent the weekend with Adam's friend who has a Shiba, and he was an absolute unruly cat-like asshole. I loved him. I have yet to meet one and not think, "I love them." The only reason I even started to consider them is because Adam wants one.
