I want to do something fun/serious with my english shepherd. He has a lot of energy and is happy when learning.
Besides agility (no close facilities), what other types of things could we train for and possibly compete in? Thank you! |

Rally Obedience makes a great introduction to dog sports. http://classic.akc.org/events/rally/index.cfm It is very relaxed and an "easy" sport. A lot of training can be done at home with very little equipment. I linked the AKC rally page but many organizations host rally competitions.

I second Rally as a good starting point. There's also traditional obedience, lure coursing, herding...the list goes on

Nosework is a really easy one to do on your own.

Disc dog stuff can be done in a backyard and the only equipment you need is a disc (or maybe.. a few discs..)
