What are options for classes/competitions?
I want to do something fun/serious with my english shepherd. He has a lot of energy and is happy when learning.
Besides agility (no close facilities), what other types of things could we train for and possibly compete in? Thank you!

Rally Obedience makes a great introduction to dog sports. http://classic.akc.org/events/rally/index.cfm It is very relaxed and an "easy" sport. A lot of training can be done at home with very little equipment. I linked the AKC rally page but many organizations host rally competitions.

I second Rally as a good starting point. There's also traditional obedience, lure coursing, herding...the list goes on

Disc dog stuff can be done in a backyard and the only equipment you need is a disc (or maybe.. a few discs..)
