Friends of ours purchased a french bulldog puppy a couple months ago, and are ready to start training it (YAY!!!!) They are clueless about the clicker though, and don't have schedules that lend themselves to a class.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a novice book or dvd to teach them the basics? They are NOT dog people (and aren't going to read a textbook on the history of clickers), so it needs to be written in a very easy-to-follow format. Any suggestions? |

For a book I'd recommend "The Power of Positive Dog Training" by Pat Miller. It covers pretty much everything but doesn't go super in depth to the point where average owners would be turned off.
Not sure on DVDs, I have not seen many, but that's probably a good idea for people who are not super into dogs.

I like Peggy Tilmans' "Clicking w/your dog",,its VERY easy, step by step instructions on hundreds of behaviors to teach your dog with clicker

I like "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Positive Dog Training" by Pamela Dennison. It's really accessible and entertaining, and it gives a good enough foundation to get quite a ways.

Maybe not the first book, but the second should be Jane Killion's "When Pigs Fly."
