I originally found bettaakapes on aquabid, and then discovered he has his own site, so i just peruse there now. he also takes video of all fish for sale and has a youtube channel. i go when i need some eye candy because holy cow he breeds the loveliest bettas Iv ever seen in my life!

Meagan, I cant help ya there. I just worked my way up the knowledge ladder. My first betta was in a .5gal from petsmart and he died 3 weeks later, which prompted information gathering on google, and i just went from there *shrug*

There's a forum called FishLore that has a lot of good information. I was active on it back in the day...4-5 years ago...but the info is still there.

Yeah ours was in a 5 gal tank with some natural aquarium plants & a little hiding place for him. We named him "H Town" because we got him when we lived in Houston we had him for about 4 yrs & he just passed away a few months ago.

They are cool because they get to "know" you pretty quick. H Town would get all excited when he saw me or my mother because we were the "feeders". The only thing they need really is a steady water temp & if you have city water you have to buy this additive to take the chlorine out of it because it will kill them. Other then that, they don't need any provide O2 because they "breathe" from the air, the only thing they need is a clear path to the surface so they can breathe.

If I divided my ten gallon tank, could I keep two females on one side, and a male in the other? I'm setting the tank up over the weekend but won't be adding fish until next weekend to give the tank time

No, with just two females they will focus on each other and fight. You need 5 or so females for them to get along.

Ok that won't work then, pretty sure 1/2 of a ten gallon is too small for 5
