Tell me how to glue ears?

I use breathe right strips as well. If Zip's ears don't stand, that's what I'll be doing.

I just have to say ..suddenly SO glad that my breed is supposed to have floppy ears. I never really considered uncropped ears needing help standing! I mean ..it makes total sense, I just never really thought of it.

Reading all this I'm just surprised Webster's ears defy gravity to stand. I'm sure his previous owners did not take the time/trouble to "help" them do so.

How old is Recon? Seven months, right? You can certainly give it a shot, but at this point it is probably too late.

The Breathe Right strips seem to work really well for getting upright ears. Speed Sew is the most popular glue people use for gluing ears, but you can't seem to buy it anywhere except ordering online. I tried vendors at a confo show and only one of them carried it and they were sold out. So I used the Tear Mender - I found it at JoAnn Fabrics, no problem. It worked really well for Payton. With Auggie I used hair glue from Sally's Beauty Supply, but Payton had a bad reaction to it (that ultimately resulted in me missing a few weeks and his ears being not quite perfect), so no more hair glue for us.


ETA: I have also read sheltie breeders using a spray glue when they moleskin. I bought some, but chickened out and never used it on Payton.
Uni-Solve adhesive remover wipes are awesome for clearing off stray glue, too.

I used Breathe Right strips for Blossom and definitely found it to be the easiest for me. I had never taped before and wasn't very good at it, but placing the strips was pretty easy.

I was semi-successful in my endeavor. She was already 8 months old, but her ear went from totally wonky and standing on it's own only rarely, to mostly up but with a pocket (oh well), all the way up whenever anything's happening, and only flopping over when she's really tired (or soooo sad, LOL). She looks enough like a Malinois for me to live with it, lol.

I never understand why BC people want to change the ear set, but whatevs. It doesn't hurt the dog any. And I did glue Tess' ears to try and get them to rose. I don't think it changed anything.

I did meet a German Pinscher recently with natural ears, which were taped to try and get them to lie right. The owner said she's never had as much trouble getting ears right with the cropped dogs as with the natural ears. So I guess even floppy ears have their travails.

Yeah, he JUST hit seven months, so I know time is of the essence, so to speak. I'm going to pick up some tear mender and breathe right strips today.

I shaved his ears two days ago and saw a difference yesterday, and then this morning his right ear was completely erect, so I'm still holding out hope! *crosses fingers*

If they don't go up, it's not the end of the world. I like erect-eared dogs, though. Just a personal preference that doesn't hurt him any if I can get them to hold. I certainly won't be tossing him out of they don't stand.
