Really? Thats so odd. I didn't know they have Aldi in the US.

Gyp, don't you usually stay on the east coast when you visit? There aren't any, that I am aware of anyone, on the east coast. I never heard of it until I moved here.

And yes, Aldi is awesome.
There are several around here in the more major shopping areas. They are too far for us to go grocery shopping really but I've heard they are pretty awesome. My grandparents go and get us a lot of breads and stuff because it is so cheap.

Google says there's a ton - even like 7 in Rhode Island. I guess they must have poppped up after we left in 2005. The last time I visited that far north was like 3 years ago - I guess they weren't up then, or they just werent on my common routes.

I'd love to see the inside of one though. US Supermarkets are always sooo nice (besides maybe foodlion, the one I went to in VA was sketchy) and Aldi here is usually pretty meh. I mean the have great products, even their electronics, but they just don't look as nice. Most supermarkets here don't look as nice as American ones.

Yeah there is like 20 within a 60 mile radius of me. I'd say the first one I saw pop up was in 2010 or so. Since then more have opened.

I'd be willing to bet they look the same inside, but I'll take a picture next time I go lol.

They save money by not having shelving (just stacks of boxes on pallets), dim lighting, etc - so they don't look fantastic inside, but that's one reason why food is so cheap. Fine by me!

My home town had one. Extra sad that we don't have one here

We have a large-ish Aldi here, they built a new larger one kitty-corner to the Wal-Mart (trying to go directly after their customers maybe?) and vacated the old smaller one. It is definitely not a fancy grocery store so to speak, but the prices are pretty low, especially if you're buying processed, packaged food (I don't.) The produce prices are close to our other grocery stores. I went in there to price out nuts and dried fruit, and Sam's Club turned out to be WAY cheaper.

They're all up and down the place here. I've never shopped there though. Now I'm curious.

I love Aldi and shop there whenever I can to get anything we need that we can get there first and then get the remainder of what we need at another local grocery store.
