Does anyone know of a show quality Papillon breeder around Missouri?

You can go to the AKC Website and look for breeder referrals there

Try this site:
http://www.papillonpower.4t.com/

They say there dogs are show quality and that they've been breeding for over 25 years, but I just did a quick search, so you should look the site over well just to make sure they're good.

Try the Papillon Club of America's breeder referral. It's always a good place to start.

I take it you're planning on getting a Pap?

Summer - Huh! I never knew that Shelties had spaniel heritage! Interesting.

Default Pappys

I thought Shelties were herding group. The Pap used to called the Continetal Toy Spaniel. They are a dual classification in Toy and Gun Dog. They still have a pretty strong hunting instinct/prey drive. My Border Collie will not hurt a thing (herding) where as with Lilly I wouldn't put it past her to tackle a cat twice the size of her!

Can you prehaps post a link to somewhere where it says they are related to Shelties? I would love to learn more about them and the only sites I have managed to access say they are spaniels.

Ashlea, even herding breeds like Border Collies have spaniel/setter ancestry. I can imagine that it's similar with shelties, I just never really thought about that. The types of spaniels that influence the Border Collie are probably not at all like the ones in the Sheltie or Papillon's heritage.

I do love that most Paps are quite drivey and energetic, I sure hate to see a lot of breeders boasting about how mellow their dogs are.

Btw, I have a Pap and a BC too Amazingly, the Papillon could outrun the Border anyday.

Default Interesting

Wow that is interesting. I never knew that.
My BC has super long legs and a body like a grey hound. I don't ever see Lills out running her. But that being said, the little bugger is fast. I have often had to bolt after her when she spots a cat! She also has a thing for pigeons!

I love your boys markings. He is super cute.
Lilly has a short coat for some reason. To look at she is close to breed standard body wise, but something went cockeyed with the rest of her.
What is your boys personality like. Lilly is a little fire cracker now that she has her confidence back.
