Landlord's annoying dog

I'll respond more in detail when I get home since I'm at work right now, but I like the idea of offering to tie him up just while I'm walking my dogs. He is definitely a friendly dog.... A VERY friendly dog. He does it because he is overly excited and wants to play, but it is just super annoying.

This morning Cricket was pooping. I heard the front door open and before I could react he barreled into her and knocked her over while she was in the middle of pooping. It hurt her too because she was limping a little after (though seems fine now). I tried to get between them and held him by his collar so she could try to finish going to the bathroom. I then waited until he went back inside to walk Bamm and Joey. He was out there for about a half hour and Joey whined the whole time because he hadn't done his morning pee/poop yet.

Also I won't pepper spray him. I'm willing to do the "throw treats for him" but only if his owners are ok with it since I wouldn't want someone else to treat my dog without permission.

I do use corrections with my dogs but god forbid anyone else does...

This. I let Chester get away with a lot of crap other people wouldn't let their dogs get away with (like mouthing), but I don't mind and I know my dog so I don't change it.

What if you approach them with a request that they keep him in at certain times, say 7-8 am and 7-8 pm (or whatever) so that you can walk your dogs as a group safely? Just put it out there that it's hard for you to manage your dogs with him being loose, so if they could please just do that, he can run loose the rest of the time and you'll work around it. You are paying rent right? So even though it's a favor....

Barring that, can you get him and sneak him into a crate in your place for an hour, walk your dogs and then slip him outside again? LOL

We used to have the neighbor's dog come to our acreage all the time, quite annoying, if I was feeding the goats he'd get put in a dog run while I did that since he'd chase the animals. Finally he was over and I had to go somewhere, the rule was the gate got shut and locked, so locked him in the yard for the day. They must have climbed the fence to lift the big moose out, but we never saw him after that. LOL

Well not saying they are perfect but they don't go barreling into someone else's dog hurting them & it is my job to protect my dogs, if I do not I feel like a failed them.

The only ppl who don't like or don't know dogs or don't have dogs would think mine are rude or bad I put that much work into them & if they are being a pest I would make them stop & I expect other folks to do the same.

I ask, how is this any different then let's say, if this dog were to do this in a park or dog park while you & your dogs were minding your own business? Just saying.

Because one is a public place. THIS situation is a PRIVATE residence that belongs to the dogs owners...they get to let their dog act pretty much however they want. Regardless of that, its just rude to spray a dog when its NOT a danger and threatening situation and can be manages by many many other ways

I would not more or less pepper spray a dog in a park or dog park either. Especially as this dog doesn't sound to be actually aggressive, just obnoxious.

That is if they say no to the tieing him up thing while you are outside but I would not lie about the reason, I would be straight foward with them, I would say in a diplomatic way that your dogs aare unable to use the restroom even because their dog is bothering them & then ask if you guys can compromise on just tying the dog up when you are outside letting your dogd do their business, then taking your dogs back inside, then letting their dog off.

you could also make a date where all the dogs can be outside playing together for further compromise or something like that (not during your dogs "bathroom time") maybe after your dogs have used the restroom or something like that.

also maybe you could offer to work with the dog to make him more neighborhood friendly to benifit everyone.

If someone who rented from me pepper sprayed my dog on my property they had better be prepared to move out by days end. Just sayin'.
