Now there's a question looking for a long answer

To start, the Presa Canario has its origins in the Canary Islands; the Cane Corso is - correct me if I'm wrong, CorsoMom - a breed that has its roots in Corsica, and the Fila is from the Minas Gerais region of Brazil.

After that, this site has excellent profiles http://www.molosserdogs.com/

Cane corsos are from Italy, The only thing I know about presas and Filas are from what I have read, I have never even seen any besides pics. From what I have read Corsos and Presas are alot alike in temp. I have talked to a guy who breeds both and he says the presa is a little harder temp. I would love to learn more about the Fila.

You could definitely write a book on a question like this...

The Corso actually originated in Italy.. and is a very close cousin to the Neopolitan Mastiff.. Used as a "multipurpose dog" for many things, including wild game hunting, guardians, shephard dogs, and even used in Roman wars..

From what I know the origin of the name 'Corso' has it roots from the Greek KORTOS, which means 'wall'. And from the Latin: COHORS, meaning 'guard of the courtyard'

I do not have a lot of experience in Filas or Canario, other than that the Canario originated from the Canary Islands, and the Fila from Brazil, as Renee already stated..

Yeah.. I have heard that the Presa does have more temperment issues. And from what I am reading about the Fila on here, it sounds like these two are probably closer to comparison (temp wise ) than the Corso is to either one...

Also, here are some websites on Corsos for more info..

Just wanted to add, I thought about the Fila before deciding on the Corso, but when my husband read about them he said "no way".He thought that you couldn'teven have people over. How are your Filas with other people besides family?my corsos dont like anyone besides us, not to say they will just attack someone just very suspicious and dont want much to do with them. Is the fila like that?

She actually is wiery of strangers at home, but when we are out, she is fine with people coming up to her and petting her. And we have had her in obedience class 3 times so far(7 weeks a pop). But the other day we were walking through the woods on a trail and a guy was running and came out of the bushes and scared her.. she just about scared the pee out of him after that...

Well... we actually live in a subdivision with many children.. So from day one we had her out playing with the kids and other puppies on the street..
She is weiry of strangers at the house though.. So, what we do is when we invites someone in the house, we have a basket of treats at the doorway, and we have them immediately throw some on the floor.. After that she loves them forever..
