Default Redyre,rott question?

When I was in high school I had a freind with two red rotts. they were the same color as the points. Her moms friend bred rotts and I guess she would get these red pups every once in a while and would kill them so no one knew they were in her lines. While my friend bottle raised these two(one died at like five weeks) and the surviving pup looked jsut like a rott but was this red color.

I've never seen it again or even heard of it. I googled it and found no decent pics. Is this really infrequent? Do you know of a site with good pics? I think she probally ended up getting hers put down at a really young age. It had hip problems from day one and had some serioues issues. She told me the breeder stopped but I question that and think she may have said it jsut to get me to shut up

So do rott breeders have more sence than others and are actually stopping the lines with the red in them?

There were a few documented instances of dilute red color Rottweilers in the early to mid 90s.

The American Rottweiler Club found the issue so serious as to petition the Amercan Kennel Club not to allow these dogs registrations, as they did not believe they were purebred.

They were the result of one of 2 things:

In infusing of Doberman blood bringing in the red color, or a close inbreeding.

Either way the color is disqualifying and highly undesireable, and anyone producing reds is waaaaaaay off the beaten path somewhere.

It was an amazing looking dog,but it was also the sickest. It was all one color and I'd jsut like to see a pic of one. Maybe I'll see her at the fair next year and ask her about it. I'm almost sure the dog can't be alive anymore. It was painfull jsut watching the poor thing walk around at one year.

Joce, if there is any way possible, I would give anything to see the pedigree.

I might see if I can get ahold of her. I know she moved from the last time I saw her but I might be able to stop at her parents and ask. If I could jsut find the breeders name out is there a way to look up what dogs they owned if it was AKC? I kind of doubt she gave out papers since she was paranoid enough to just kill the red ones. she was from northern Ohio but I'm not sure if she was in lorain county or not.

For crying out loud, I'd lay down money that without a doubt ,that is a dobieX litter.

That just steams me, clearly it is breeding for "color", what a crock.
