I have 6 right now and i'm doing pretty good. I love having a larger pack and I will probably always have a large pack.
Do you travel? What do you do with the dogs if you do?

I think 3-4 permanent dogs works for me. If I had more space in my house/yard, I could see potentially going to 5, but I don't think that would be ideal, especially with trying to mix in trialing/showing and classes with everyone. It would be a bit too hectic I feel. More than that and I would have to quit my job LOL

Probably 3-4, of different ages/stages.

ETA: Which is amusing, because I never want to be over 3 ferrets. Ever.

Nope, never travel. I've never felt the need or want to go anywhere. I love being home and I get homesick very easily.

I've only boarded my dogs twice in my lifetime and it was only for one night.

Depends on the dogs, really. Easy answer though is that I can't ever see having more than 3.

Makes sense, that is one thing that keeps us around 4 and often daydreaming of only 2. It's rough finding a pet sitter for four dogs that isn't crazy in cost and we can't travel with all four and relax as much as we would like.

I think I could enjoy 2 if they were lounge lizards in the house. Lucy is not, and never has been, a lounge lizard though...so I'm quite content with 1 extremely high maintenance dog!

Every time I think I want a second, I foster or dog sit and am SO ready to be back to 1 dog when it's done.

Even though I love my dogs more than anything in the world, I can't imagine traveling with them in terms of a holiday. A holiday would mean me laying on the couch and not having to get up at all and that's not possible with so many dogs, lol.

Also I would never be able to have a pet sitter in my home. Hank would probably bite and I doubt Dallas would be thrilled about having a stranger come in the house without me there. I've never had to board Dallas yet and I feel confident he would be fine in a boarding facility and Hank has only been boarded once and he was great with the staff.

The rest of the boys are very easygoing in terms of having strangers around, super friendly.

Minimum of 2 and a max of 4 or 5.
