Default Can the ***** get pregnant while on period?

My bf has two yorkies. The female is Bambi and the male is Eddy. Bambi just got her 1st period and and it's been on for 3 weeks. My bf caught Eddy (7 months old) humping Bambi and the problem is he doesn't want her to get pregnant and he doesn't know how often they hump. They are sooo gonna take Eddy to get neutered soon. My question is can Bambi get pregnant?

Yep, when she's spotting is exactly the time they get pregnant. If she's willing to stand for him and he's actually achieved penetration you've got a problem. You'll be extremely lucky if she isn't already pregnant. You need to take her to the vet immediately to get checked since this was her first estrus cycle. She's probably much too young and you will need the help and advice of a veterinarian to get her through this if she is pregnant.

I've never had a pregnant dog but my female rabbit got pregnant when she was too young and almost died. It was really heartbreaking to see her suffer like that.

How old is the female? The vet might ask you if you want to have a puppy abortion on her. Depends on how old she is. Just letting you know so you can think about it.

Bambi is 10 months old and she's been on her period for 3 weeks and it hasn't stopped. I told my bf that if she continues to have period after 4 weeks then he should definitely take her to the vet. I heard most female dogs only spot for 2 weeks or less. At first Bambi would go crazy on Eddy when ever he tries to hump her so my bf thought that Eddy would never get it but that one day he came home from work he caught Eddy humping. Eddy has joint problem on the legs that is hereditary that is what the vet said a while ago and that is why my bf wants to neuter him. I hope Bambi doesn't get pregnant. I told me Bf to read your reply yesterday night and he got so worry that he didn't sleep until 4 in the morning doing more research.

Well, 10 months old isn't as bad. I still don't think she should be having a baby but it's not like 6 months or something. Why haven't you taken her to have her spade? Are you considering it?

I've never bred dogs but from what I've read iy's not a good idea to breed them until they are 2yrs. I don't if that varies with different breeds. You should definitely get at least one of them fixed as soon as you can.

Ol boss counted 9 days in a window of 48 hours for breeding nine days out
Mary never spotted..was only 5 months old everyone said it was a false pregnancy I said false pregs don't kick...so I don't think there is any standard rule that doen'st have an exception. Bronki came from that litter. I sold the pups (they were cross breeds) for exactly what the shots and food cost me (I don't believe in profit from life) and ran that girl all the way to the vet for spaying!

I have had some females that bred on their 8th day and some that didn't until their 15 day. Unless the dogs tied, I doubt if she did get pregant, but don't take any chances. They usually don't get interested in the male until they're ready to mate, but some are playful and "horny" the whole heat. For breeders, it's a patient wait ,try and see. I had two gentlemen Goldens who would only show interest when the female was ready and one I had to give permission ! A good tie can last 10 to 20 minutes. It's important for the breeder to postion the male after the breeding until the un-tie to maake sure there will be no hart to either dog. Breeding should never be for family fun, education for the kids or hope to make a few bucks. Both males and females should be checked out to rule out any problems that could be passed on, never breed on the 1st heat and wait until the female is at least 2 years old. Then, be prepared to to spend a lot of time and money on the puppies. (Starting 1st with the female within 12 hours after what you think was the last pup...the 1st of many vet calls. Time wise, many hours a day HAVE to be spent for a one on one with each pup for early socialization .This goes on for 7 weeks....the recommended time for pups to go to their new home. Good luck! Keep us posted!!

Yeah they are gonna neuter Eddy for sure but they are waiting for all of his baby tooth to erupt so that they can get pulled out while his getting neutered. The vet said that Eddy has to see a dental specialist. I've never seen a puppy that's 7 months old and barely has any baby teeth. At 7 months adult tooth should had already erupted. With Bambi I don't know what my Bf wants to do. I think he wants to bred her once then spay her and at the same time pulled out 2 of the baby canine out because they are over laping with adult canine. Toki has the same problem with the canine so I think we both are setting a date to get all 3 of our doggies to get their tooth extraction together.
