My grandparents did the Mars DNA test on their dog, and I'd like to get your guys' thoughts on the results.
Fritz looks pretty much like a pure rottie to me, if a somewhat out of standard one. The DNA test says she is half rottie, 1/4 Swiss mountain dog and 1/4 Finnish spitz. I could kind of see the swissie although they aren't the most common breed around here. But I don't buy the Finnish spitz at all. My guess is that breed shares some similar genetic markers with something else - either a different breed that mars doesn't test for or something in the heritage of rotties. I don't know what that might be though - any guesses? I'll post pics in a minute. |

I agree looks like a pet bred Rottie to me. Those DNA tests are notoriously inaccurate, a lot of people get the same results as far as really off the wall breeds coming up. This person's AKC registered AmStaff, UKC register APBT test came back as Border Collie, Boston and Bulldog. http://youtu.be/4a4CDvK868w
These test are pretty much "for entertainment purposes only"
