AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND — Three dogs in New Zealand have been taught to drive a car by an animal rescue charity, local media reported. After weeks of indoor training in how to change gear, brake and steer, canines Monty, Ginny and Porter have finally been allowed behind the wheel of a real car - with a little help from their handlers.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Auckland decided to teach the dogs to drive to demonstrate the intelligence of rescued dogs.

This would be a very bad idea for Kharma. She has road rage as a passenger. She's still looking for that woman in the white, four door Japanese sedan who cut us off twice. And then there's her aversion to the rookie cops.

That video was cool. Very interesting. That could be useful if someone needs to be driven home after a late night in a bar. Their dog could be the designated driver. I wonder who would get the ticket for driving without a license, the person or the dog.
