my girl was humping a toy
sorry for asking this,but i'm just kinda shocked lol .Today when i gave her the toy to play,it's one of her favorites i noticed that she did what male dogs do...she was humping it lol,at least that's what it looked like
 is it normal for a female dog to do that?or my little girl wants to be something else?!thanks!

Oh, don't worry too much, Josephine. Prita's just found something she can dominate. It's not uncommon, although it is a behaviour that seems to be more prevalent among small breeds.
You might want to discourage her - it can get kind of embarrassing when there's company, and they will do it then; sort of asserting themselves when outsiders are near. The only thing you need to consider fretting over is that she doesn't have any sort of urinary tract infection. If her urine's clear and you don't see any discharge that's probably not a problem though.

I have two males dogs and every once in a while the smallest but oldest will try to hump my other male dog, I just think is a show of dominance.
Have you seen the new movie "Meet the Fockers"? Oh my gosh, there is a little dog in the show and it humps EVERTHING, even the cat - it is hysterical but I would hate to have a pet that did that!

that was the funniest movie! we saw it the day after Christmas. they'd say " just let him finish"
actually, my little Shih Tzu kinda started doing that. he pumped his area a couple of times while playing with a toy, but he has such a short attention span, its almost like he forgot what he was doing. he only done it a couple of different times. he's only 10-11 weeks old.

Well out here in Switzerland most of the males are not neutered (AKKKKK!) so there is lots of humping between males going on at the parks. Snoop seems to be very dominate and will quickly try it. However I did come across an article that suggested that as well as being a dominance manuver it can also be a way for a lesser dog to aligne themselves with the top male in the group. I do have the comfort that Snoop does not do this too much at home...except when my husband has been on a buisness trip and then Snoop is soooooo happy to see daddy. Good luck. greentiger

Every once in awhile Shiva will decide to do it to another dog that comes up from the trailer park next door. They fall down. Which answers the question, "What do you do when a 140+ Fila wants to hump your leg?"

Yeah Jenny has tried to do that to Brady a couple of times. And Brady has done it less than that to her. They are both fixed, I guess they are taking turns being the dominant one. Brady loves her so much though he would let her wipe the floors with himself.
Also when I was in high school my friend had a poodle that liked to get this one teddy bear and hump it all the time. She has quit doing it by now in her older age.
