I did at one point look at moving out of the country (to Denmark!) but that was long before I could even vote LOL.

I'll admit that I'm too lazy to ever make that big of a move. Then again, I *like* living in the US.

I thinks she was referring to me and my comment about feeling like I should start a second fund for Hannah to pay off the debt she's going to owe by the time she's an adult

but it would have been the same if Romney was elected. Everyone would have been posting about how they lost their right to their bodies and they better give their vaginas over and all the other nonsense that's been posted by the "other side of the coin" in the previous weeks. Everything would have been doom and gloom still if Romney had been voted in and this thread would be going the same way except with the roles reversed

The thing is, there's no immediate answer. Each side wanted/wants a single explanation as for how to solve all the issues, and the fact is that there is no single answer. No single act can be done to magically correct all the things wrong. The main problem lies in the hypocritical finger-pointing from each side when the magical single answer was unable to be produced.

Raising taxes and printing more money isn't going to solve these issues. Forcing those who earn more to give more isn't going to solve all the issue (especially when one doesn't stop to take into account the higher-earning family's debt issues....i.e. a friend of mine has special needs baby with numerous chromosomal issues, thus the daily medical care for this little boy is more than most of us can imagine. hubby has a great job as a neurophsyicist, and they actually manage ok financially with her having to be a full-time yet unpaid nurse to their own child. but they have their own bills and debt to pay. but for some, that doesn't matter because they make more than some of the "poorer" people, therefore they should have to "give" more. now what happens to my friends? do they downsize their own house and downsize their own vehicles because they can't afford to "give" more while maintaining their own standard of living?........just food for thought)

Well, with a better healthcare system, they wouldn't have to spend so much money to take care of their kids in the first place. Now imagine if a family earning $40,000 a year had the same problem... they'd have to go bankrupt, heck, maybe abandon their child to make sure his care is actually covered? it just blows my mind.

I had friends who were actually planning on moving to Canada if Obama lost. These people are either married gay couples, transexuals, or college students, all whom would have had some serious lifestyles changes should Romney win. Going to Canada would mean they would have what they were looking for in the Obama administration. They started applying for visas and stuff...this made sense to me.

Saying you're mad Romney lost and you're moving to Canada...a country which is run largely in the same way Obama is projecting to run this country...doesn't make ANY sense. What are you going there for? To pay less taxes and buy private insurance?


That said, I absolutely see the Republican viewpoint fiscally. It makes sense, I don't just necessarily think it's the best idea, and I don't think realistically it's something that can work in today's global world. That said, I have really, really, really hard time respecting people who voted for Romney. The only reason to vote for him, that I can come up with, is that you HATE the Democratic stance so much that you would accept ANYTHING else in office. I don't dislike Republicans, I voted for some in our local election and had they chosen a different candidate, may have voted republican for presidency. But after hearing Romney put his foot in his mouth SO many times, and some of the really unbelievable, offensive things he's said along with his team, plus the fact that he continually went against himself and changed what he stood for over and over, makes me really question how anyone who has heard him speak more than once, debate...could possibly think that man could run ANY country, let alone America.

Well if Romney was elected, if I threaten to move, I would at least have a lot of great options open.

I'm very thankful for my church family. We have been blessed enough with a group of people that truly see each other as family and we help each other when in need. We have a lady right now who has been out of work for quite some time. It's very hard on her and we have all been pulling together to keep things going for her as well as other members of our congregation.

I don't know how we got to the point where people started only looking within their household for need instead of the need within their own communities. heck most people dont' even know their neighbors anymore

Ok... I'll bite. What debt? What would make a teenager get in debt (other than maxing their credit cards on Ipads and the like )? If you mean college, what in Obama's plan is going to increase college cost? And what exactly in Romney's plan would have prevented teenagers/young adults from going in debt?

I was going to ask this as well. What debt will Hannah have by the time she's an adult? Or even by the time she's in her 30s?

See, I woke up this morning incredibly relieved that my child will be born under Obama's administration. It means we won't struggle to pay for healthcare, it means my kid will have the right to marry whomever they want, it means they will be able to afford college. It will mean I can feel safer about putting them in the public education system.

she already has a college fund. I think its funny that there is little complaining about 'big education'. I am thinking about what her portion of the national debt will be when she is old enough to realize it. Today, that number is about $212,000.

our nation is 16 trillion in the hole. Not entirely Obama's fault, but he certainly did not do one thing to stop the spending madness. Add to this our dollars being worth less all the time. I believe Obama's policies will only make this worse.
