Nosework is in general a decent sport for dogs with issues - the training part is probably the most human intensive part, but Andrew Ramsey (the guy whose seminar I went to) has a DVD out that several friends have used with good success. Currently trials are few and far between, but with UKC and possibly AKC getting into it, that should change.
CD, Aeri's harness is a Redline K9 biothane agitation harness iirc - I got it from a friend who no longer needed it and I haven't had a use for it until now, but it was awesome for this! I did have to poke extra holes into the girth strap for my wee dogs, but otherwise it has performed nicely (and omg that handle was sooooo helpful!). This looks like a more updated version of mine: http://www.allk-9.com/padded-all-wea...ess-p-835.html

I had one of those for Scout for while! It didn't fit her chest right and its fine for us to just use Lily's harness, so I sold it to a guy with a Dobe. Fits his dog perfectly, lol.
Got ours from www.dogsportgear.com and not allk9.com though. Not that it matters, they carry all the same gear, lol! |

mia did good tonight. She's definitely a favorite due to her being so small and fearless. She keeps finding the hides then knocking the boxes down. Some of the big dogs are spooking at the boxes off the ground but not her. I really love that dog.
I know I said i'm not planning on trialing but they need volunteers for the first ORT in Oklahoma. I may sign up. Oh and my trainer trials a chihuahua and says she trials just fine.

I haven't done any Nosework, but I did train four dogs in narcotics and loved doing it. I love all kinds of scent training. I do need to find out what my options are for allowed indications.

I *think* all alerts are allowed. I do know originally dogs were allowed all search methods but the godzilla box smashing (to waft smells) isn't allowed anymore.
I have a few friends who've been in the sport from it's "lets see if this may be a sport" phase and I helped use my bootcamp client dogs as guinea pigs for two training to be trainers at my work so I have been around it a lot but I haven't yet started my dogs beyond introducing the boxes and treat hunts. I would love to try it though but time and money says agility and IPO win for now. Then again, if it becomes AKC it changes my approach!
