Write it all down, even the knick-knacks and supplies. That does two things: it accounts for more things they've insured and it shows that you are keeping track and are unlikely to be steamrolled.

On the stuff like furnace, electrical, etc., call an appropriate contractor and get estimated costs for replacement. The faster you get on that the closer to the front of the line you are

Don't forget installation costs on appliances, etc., too.

The insurance adjusters are going to be looking for items to cut -- better to wrangle over installation costs, especially if you can do it yourself if necessary, than over actual items.

(((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) and ~~~~~~~~~~~~VIBES~~~~~~~~~~~~~~and many prayers that you will soon be able to recover what you can, replace what you can't and be able to go on in peace. I am very sorry for all of this your going through.Be careful to take care of your health so that the stress doesn't make it even harder to go on. It is too easy to force your way through the clean up and not eat or rest properly.

Oh gosh! (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))How traumatic! But you might be surprised, depending on your insurance co. I had two claims in a house quite some time ago. I think it was State Farm and they gave me no trouble at all. In fact, the adjuster even volunteered all kinds of things I never imagined would be covered as far as re-painting areas that seemingly had not much to do with the original damage area and all kinds of new stuff. They were very good, prompt and agreeable. With the state of emergency, that should really help. Sometimes, believe it or not, these things can wind up being a blessing in disguise. You'll get all new stuff. I hope you didn't lose too much stuff that is non replaceable like photos or mementos. Hang in there and keep us posted on how the re-building goes. (((hugs)))
