When we have a kid, we'll be doing delayed cord clamping, so no cord blood to bank.

Another blog I follow posted this "Resources for Birth Plans" list today. http://wonderfullymadebelliesandbabi...rth-plans.html

I think I'm going to allow the blood to flow into the baby for a couple minutes before cutting.

You can bank cord blood with delayed cord clamping. I did it myself.

Oh that's interesting - I haven't looked into it too much because I'm also looking into homebirth and afaik that would really complicate banking as well, but I'll certainly keep that in mind!

This article is mostly just entertaining, but this part:

Quote:
When the baby finally starts moving, you might expect it to be like light flutters, or like pastel butterflies frolicking through your innards. As that is how youíve heard it described. You will not expect it to feel like he is pounding on your stomach like itís the walls of Shawshank, and he is demanding to be let out of this godforsaken, amniotic prison. You will not expect to take a swig of orange juice, and then suddenly feel like thereís a one-man band playing the spoons on your kidneys.
In the last couple weeks I've really started to fear for my rib cage.
