Haha, sounds like I'm making a trip to the station.

What're your opinions on the ointment and shot right after birth?

I'm assuming you're talking about the eye drops and hep vaccine or vitamin K shot?

I'm fairly certain in NYS, at least for a hospital birth, the K shot and drops are mandatory. I'm sure you could get out of them if you had religious reasons, but I think they're not going to do any harm and I'm not going through the trouble of not getting them.

The hep B vaccine is optional after birth, but I'm going to have it done provided the baby is healthy. I think vaccines are important, and while I can definitely understand delaying them or spreading them out (which I may do later), I don't think the risks of one vaccine at birth for a healthy infant are reason enough for me personally to not have it given.

We did the vit k shot but not the ointment. I had a choice with both because I had a home birth. I'm pretty sure the ointment is mandatory if you're at the hospital. We don't do hep b in Canada until the kids are older but I would have declined it if it was given at birth. Those are just my preferences though! We also did delayed cord clamping - another great option to consider if the situation allows for it.

And,yeah, once the carseat or base is in, leave it there if you can - they are definitely a pain in the butt.

I had no problem with the vitamin k shot or the erythromycin ointment to be given at birth, but obviously with Everleigh, all our plans went to hell anyways. I don't think she got the ointment until she was transferred to the NICU and I don't know when she was given the vitamin k.

(We also didn't get to do skin to skin, immediate breast feeding, delayed cord clamping, no formula/bottles/soothers or any other things lined out in my mental birth plan...)

I got Briggy's speech pathologist report back. It was said my Briggalo is functioning at or below a 12 month level.

Not the easiest thing to read. My boy is nearly 3.

The more knowledge you have, Paige, the better you can put plans into action. Hugs mama. Briggs is so lucky to have such a strong, involved mom.

HUGE HUGS and , please i know it is hard not to agonize over those reports,
but just dont. you need to know the info in them to formulate a game plan , but please realize they do NOT define him. He is how he is supposed to be , no matter what a paper says. you just have to figure out the special approach he is going to need, You can do this.

((hugs)) Paige, and I can't say it better than Allison and Bogart did. The report is important because it will help you figure out the best methods to help him move forward, and it only shows his development RIGHT NOW, not what it will or can be in the future.

Those are lovely photos of Everleigh!

My contractions went nowhere. Still no baby, random contractions throughout the day that start and stop and have no pattern and don't get closer, lost part of (I don't think all of) my mucus plug a few days ago...still nothing. I'm going to the midwife tonight and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't need an induction. I don't mind waiting a little more for him/her, I'm not very uncomfortable and I've been enjoying my last baby-free days, but I am still anxious to meet him/her.

(((hugs))) Paige. Many (((hugs))).

Allison those pictures are adorable. Does Everleigh not mind being naked?? Falon HATED it until she was about 8 weeks.

Also, just as general info coconut oil does amazing things for cradle cap. I let some sit on Falon's scalp for 15 minutes and then brushed with a super soft brush in the bath and its almost gone. Which is awesome cause its super gross.
