Default Booyah

I started a store on Etsy a couple months ago selling tug toys.

RedDog Tugs. Named after our favorite red dog, of course.

Anyway, it's done better than I expected, and I've been making and mailing off tugs pretty regularly. There are now RedDog Tugs on three different continents. Uh huh.

But now? I have somebody who wants to buy some wholesale to sell in her shop. HOW COOL IS THIS??

Scary, too. And I'm not sure about things like pricing, but wow. Somebody thinks my stuff is worth selling in her STORE.

How did this even happen?

Congratulations! That is very cool!

I haven't done anything wholesale yet, but I have had Morgan Collars in a few locally owned pet shops on consignment. Being asked to have your products in stores is very neat, indeed!

How cool! I would be over the moon!

How do you make them? Are they done like the lanyards we used to do at summer camp using the plastic shoelace type things? It looks the same, but I'd never in a million years thought to have done that with fleece! That's awesome!

Yup, pretty much like that. Who knew those Girl Scout camp skills would have become lucrative

It totally blindsided me. So cool. I'm stressing a little bit on pricing, but it seems like a pretty cool opportunity.

That's awesome! Try not to stress too much. Try calling a Small Business Association in your local area and see if they can tell you how a wholesale price is determined.

I stressed with pricing for consignment, too. I'm guessing it would be similar, at least close to wholesale... the difference being that I get paid as my products sell. I get X amount back per collar they sell, but I still own all the inventory in their store. With wholesale, you are just selling directly to the store.

What I did to find a starting point was work out the raw cost of materials per item I make, and then find a middle ground between that and my final selling price. With consignment, there was some negotiation involved in finding that number between me and the store owner, but with wholesale I'm assuming you will have more control (if not total control) over the final figures.

I don't know if that helps at all, but either way... Good Luck!!
