"Beauce" is a region of France, so I've been told in France they say it more like "Bow-s-Roan", that's what someone from France told me anyway, my mother likes to down talk me for saying it that way. And yes, I'm guilty of telling many people she's a "French sheepdog", because some people just never get "Beauceron" no matter how many times you say it or try to explain it.
HA! NOW I know how to say it properly.

I always said it with a hard c. Beau-ker-own.

I've been enlightened.

Interesting. I always said it BOW-sir-on (vs. own) but was just guessing

I know this is mildly off topic, but I READ about fish so much and don't actually TALK about some of the rarer ones, I end up butchering the names of fish sometimes. I still can't figure out how to say "Bichir". Biker? Bitcher? Beeshure? And the African cichlids like Acei...Acey? Asigh? Sigh...people should know their own breeds though!

Oh..and I kind of hate 'pet' breed names...like Wiener dog drives me NUTS.

I, personally, am not a fan of "pittie" or "pibble," either.

Pibb-Lez is a favorite in my house. We also say mali-doodles, a lot.

I sometimes say Belgian Shepherd because saying "Malinois" always descends into weirdness. Once at the farmer's market somebody asked what Stan was and I told her. The conversation went...

"Malinois."

"Malin-what?"

"Malinois."

"Malin-what?"

"Malinois."

"Malin-what?"

"Malinois."

"Malin-what?"

"Malinois."

"Malin-what?"

Over and over. I thought my friend that was with me was going to pee her pants.

At the same market, my daughter was telling everybody that Stan is a Giant Malingaw. In her defense, she's 4.

Yeah I think if I ever get my Berger.... I'll just call it a Picardy Shepherd when people ask, because that might be slightly easier for others to understand lol. Not that people really care, or that they're going to have any idea what that is, either.

Thankfully there is no confusion with "boxer" or "poodle mix" haha.
