Traffic sucks. Glad you finally got there.
I am glad. LOL. It's also a good thing (for me) you don't live in the Seattle area. There are accidents CONSTANTLY. The way people drive here, it's unbelievable! You can plan for Mariniers games or other events down town, I guess, if you check every day the events calendar. But you'd also have to foresee bridges opening up for tall ships, trains holding up the traffic at seemingly random times. Sometimes you think you can almost go and they stop and back up...sometimes quite a distance, then go again! There can be weather related issues that can spring up in the winter suddenly. You're going along and round a corner and there's snow and ice forming and people are slowing down and still tail gating like they always do. Then there's an accident. LOL. No, you can not always control when you're going to get to your destination...not around here anyhow.......

unless.......................................you leave about 5 hours ahead of time. Who in their right mind would do that? Do you know the year before last here in Seattle, when it snowed and they don't do anything about the snow...no plows, no salt, no nothin'.....it was so bad, accidents, fender benders, people stuck at a stand still for hours and hours, people running out of gas, peeing on the side of the road, people were in trouble, in other words. I was here visiting...hadn't moved here yet and I picked up my daughter from work downtown Seattle. We must have hit a lucky window and got home to her place quickly. People who were traveling after us had it rough. Some people at her work took 10 hours to get home. TEN HOURS to drive a 15 - 30 minute drive or so. It's crazy here. People are idiots how they drive in the snow, plus the snow sucks and there are hills like you would not believe.

Haha! That's too funny! So, you're somewhere around Seattle now. Cool. And it's very cool to only have a 10 minute commute! Awesome.

What brought you out west? How do you like it? You are now a certified "coastie."

Last week one day I was an hour late to work. Three days later I was 30 mins late. Tonight I was late getting home. Too many accidents. The one that made me an hour late was an 8 car pile up.

Traffic here isn't bad at all, but I live in a 'small town' area. Rarely an accident..well, unless something major happens, then you aren't getting anywhere at all. We had that nasty October snow storm that knocked all the power out, we attempted to get OUT of our town, and could not at all due to all the trees and damage.

I'll say now I would never live in FL again though..I can't handle the traffic.

I'm definitely NOT looking forward to dealing with Chicago's..population..next weekend when I go for a business trip. It's complete craziness, we tried public transportation two years ago and it was pretty horrible. I think we'll use taxis from now on!
Haha..we had gotten off a bus, and had to go find the train, the bus driver told us where to walk and then to go down under the city. On the way, we stopped and got a box of wine, and then found where there were stairs going underneath..thought it was the subway. Walked in..it was a courthouse! People there were heckling us and everything.

Traffic here is no fun, but nothing compared to Chicago or the DC area etc. Though if you have to cross the bridge into IL from downtown....muah haha, have fun. Four major interstates all use the same bridge to cross:/ They are now getting ready to change that but of course that just means that there is even more construction...so sorry for the people who have to commute that way!

Glad I don't! Heck, my boss is okay with "The line at Starbucks was really long" excuses. There is no such thing as a "traffic report" where I live. When a car goes off the road or you get stuck behind a piece of farm equipment, you let people know where you are, find a good radio station, and wait it out. Honestly, if I was regularly on time for work and got stuck in traffic, let my boss know I was running late, and he gave me ****... I'd be in HR that day.

Yep, my boss is good with it too. Well he did heckle me a bit about how paranoid I was that I was going to get in trouble. And some of the senior guys were telling me I should have checked the radio. But it was all in jest.

My work is laid back about that kind of thing as long as you are responsible and putting in your hours every week.

I think the difference is, if said person was late (mind you, he was constantly late and never calling), that meant that I had to stay at work late
