Mopping

Fortunately I have the smallest linoleum spots ever, the kitchen and the bathroom. Tiny.

So I sweep with a hand dustpan and brush, scrub with a regular kitchen sponge, and then swiffer Yup, I'm awesome.

I've never used a mop and bucket- they've always creeped me out!

I sweep and then pick it up with a dust pan. When I'm sure there is no hair or dirt left on the floors, I'll mop it. I alternate between a Swiffer Wet Jet, and a steam cleaner.

I use a sponge mop or something similar to what Fran posted. I HATE the steam mops, it never seems like they do anything. I don't like the "many-tentacled" mops either because they don't seem to do anything.


I had a sponge mop that had a generic Magic Eraser head once. It was more than awesome.

I vacuum the entire house first, then use the shark (steam mop) on the tile and wood floors. In reality though, I HATE the wood floors. I much prefer the carpet, where I feel like dirt is contained (and eventually sucked up though the vacuum or carpet steamer) rather than blowing around constantly.

I'm so the opposite! ugh I HATE HATE HATE carpet! I always felt like everything just sits in carpet and it's so hard to deal with and get everything out lol one of my first things when looking at apartments was no carpets.. but one of my friends is the same as you, she much prefers them. Blows my mind.

Around here a quick sweep and ready mop or swiffer does the trick.
On an extra crazy day I will go over once again with a clorox wipe on the swiffer to disinfect the floors.

I really want one of those floor cleaning robots.. roomba!!

I think by hand is the only way to really get it clean....so I just live with dirt If I want clean, I do it on my hands and knees but for all the other times, I sweep and swiffer then steam mop.

carpet freaks me out because it does hold the dirt. bleh.

Yeah, but I vacuum daily and steam clean weekly...my carpets are pretty darn clean. As opposed to when I walk across the wood floors and without fail a tumbleweed of fur comes flying across at me...

Really though, it's the coziness factor. I am always, always, always cold. When we lived in a house with all wood floors, I had to leave my shoes on all the time because the floors were cold. It was harder to get out of bed in the morning, harder to get the house to a level where it didn't feel gross to walk barefoot, and just...not cozy!

I realize I'm in the minority here. 90% of houses we looked at buying had wood floors, because that's what people want. We had to search long and hard to find one that had carpet in the master bedroom and family rooms (our must haves). The rest of our house is wood/tile...but I don't mind leaving shoes on in those parts.

I don't like any of it. Especially because I feel like my dogs bring in mud a lot. It's been raining a lot often so there's muddy paws coming in through the kitchen always. That's probably why it seems so dirty right now.

I think I may hand wash it tomorrow.

I prefer not-carpet. I bought fake wood flooring for my parents' living room, I'm super excited to get it in and get the nasty old carpet out I'm secretly hoping there's enough left to put it in upstairs in my room and rip out the ugly BRIGHT RED carpet lol.
