Those are just yearling size. Here's a pic of one of his adults. I love their chubby cheeks. They're like big ol' bully lizards.

HOLY SHAT - that's huge but gorgeous. What kinda enclosure do these guys need? I'm imagining they wouldn't be too happy with a simple aquarium and heater. Sorry for my ignorance - I haven't a clue about reptile care.

My iguana was similarly sized, but more slender. We just potty trained him and let him have run of the house. He had a special perch in the living room with a spotlight so he could bask and digest his food.

That's one of the reasons I want a tegu. They're smart enough to potty train like him, but overall more consistently personable. He was the sweetest sweetheart, but most iguanas don't stay that way. Especially the males (and especially if they have a female owner). He used to hang out in the living room and watch TV with us, and do rounds from lap to lap so he could get all his scritches in. lol

If I get a tegu any time soon I'm going to build a large outdoor enclosure for warm weather though. Natural light is way healthy for them. Something like a chain link kennel with lots of sand to burrow in and cinder blocks sunk into the ground underneath the wire.

Lol All I can think of that picture is that the Tegu is going to eat the guinea pig...
