Default Somebody slap sense into me!

So, I just e-mailed someone about a black and white tegu. It's got an eating disorder supposedly, but this is also the time of year they slow down for hibernating too.

Oh, I used to want one so bad.

But on the other hand, think of the exotic vet bills if things go wrong.

ROFL! That's an awesome name.

There's no pics in the ad, so we'll see. Apparently it's 12 inches long and losing some weight from not eating. If it ends up here, I'll take tons of pics though.

Oh man, after Mr. Lizard passed away I researched the crap out of everything and settled on an Argentine B&W for the next lizard. Don't know if this one's a Colombian or Argentine, but well...

Ack! I'm really looking forward to hear back from them though. The other awesome thing about them is their climate is pretty similar to ours, so I can build an outdoor pen for the warmer months and just put a heat spotlight thingy in it.

I do hope you can get him but yes exotic bills suck. I won't even tell you how much I just shelled out for wellness exams for 3 birds...

There not too bad for here, there's a Dr. at the same clinic the bozos go to that's a really good reptile vet. They only charge $35 for office visits, it's pretty comparable to a dog really except no vaccination expenses. I used that doc back when I did reptile rehab and they helped me a lot with getting meds and wormers in bulk.

One of my coworkers used to have a Tegu, but she wasn't able to care for it (I really do wonder how she even manages to care for her child...) so she gave it to the zoo where I now work. We were talking about them in my reptile class and the keeper was going on and on about how awesome and dog-like they are lol.

I'm having major gecko wants right now. I thought I could get my A&R fix at the zoo since I work with several species of snakes, lizards, frogs, etc - but it's only making me want one more!

The only tegu I've known was a golden on that uses to be at a pet store a friend worked at. It was a golden tegu who was VERY aggressive-you were putting your hands at risk just trying to clean his cage, change food and water, etc. They didn't feel comfortable selling him like that so they eventually adopted him out to someone very experienced in reptiles.

Yeah, I'm hoping it's an Argentine. They're a lot more docile and social. The Colombians are really... feisty. Goldens are just one of the Colombian variations, so it's not too surprising.

You can actually clicker train Argentines and let them off leash. Muahaha! The guy who made this video takes his tegus off leash to local parks and lets them swim in ponds, and they come when he calls.

Are they full grown in that vid? Tegu's are supposed to be on the larger side aren't they?
