Default Transferring excitement

This is more of a behavioral question rather than a training question per say as it doesn't matter much either way. Mia's always been a little... explosive... as far as excitement goes. She doesn't hold it in very well. Sometimes that comes out in screaming or redirecting onto the other dogs. Lately she's taken to running to the 'mouse' spot in my house and barking at it. So say I start getting ready to go to the park and she figures it out- she will race to the place where she saw the mouse and start barking. Then back to me then to the other room and bark bark bark bark at the bookshelf.

Very similar to when she was attacking the tree in the back yard every time I'd let her outside. Or when she went through her tail chasing stage.

Would you call this some for of obsessive behavior or is it just (once again) impulse control related?

I don't really need help working on it as I'm doing a similar approach as I have for her other excitement behavior. I'm just more curious as to why she tends to do this in general. It seems like she is just very programmed to do something like this and once I figure out one behavior and modify it, she pops up another behavior when she's excited.

I would say, yes it sounds a bit OCD. You can change her focus in terms of what she obsesses over but her tendency to do a repetitive behavior does not change.

Is the proper way to deal with OCD to just deal with each behavior on it's own?
