There's been a small change this morning: I can see very slight movement of his right upper eyelid. I'm excited, because yesterday there was no movement if any part of the right side of his face. He still can't close the eye by any means, so I'm using an artificial tear gel three times a day to keep the eye lubricated.

He ate 1/3 can dog food, with a jar of baby food and a jar of water (used baby food jar) mixed in. It took him about five minutes to slurp it all down, but he got most of it. Going out to pee and eating zapped all his energy, so he's curled up on the couch right now.

My main concern right now is his inability to drink water (even if I syringe it in, it dribbles back out, but this is common in human stroke patients, so I can see it being the same in dogs). I'm going to go to the clinic later and pick up some fluids, so I can do some sub-q fluids for a few days (I'll do IV if I have to).

He definitely seems more depressed this morning, but he's still wagging his tail for you much of the time. He just has sad eyes.

Awwwww . . . .

Although the bowl of food is pretty much barf-worthy, lol.

Renee, you're telling me! It's some Nature's Variety plus chicken baby food plus water. But he thought it smelled delicious! Lol!

Poor guy.

I know how scary the Vestibular problem is.

boyfriends parents called us about 1.5 years ago saying Jazz (their then 14 year old lhasa) was dying. we rushed over to say good bye, before they took her to the vet. Which we thought was the last time we would see her. Well she was diagnosed with vestibular. her whole left side was useless, major head tilt and walk in circles. They brought her home with the idea to give her a few days then make a real decision on wheather to put her down. well after a few days she got a tenny bit better. so there was hope. now a year and a half later at over 15 you would think this dog is a 3 year old still. no signs of any issues, aside from a little head tilt left.

There is always lots of hope with this nasty sickness. i wish your boy the best. slight changes such as his eyelid moving is wonderful, and shows he will fight it and be better. good luck. its a sucky sometimes long road, but recovery is always pretty good
