Yep, I agree with Shai - use premack principle here. You could use "go say hi" as a reward for working with you, not much different than people who would put "go sniff" on a cue. I know this subject comes up in the Puppy Primer of Control Unleashed, not positive if it's in the regular Control Unleashed book too. By using something high value (go say hi) as a reward you're transferring value to the less desirable activity (working for you) because she knows when she works for you, you will release her to go say hi. I think your trainer could help you with this, using the other people in class who are trying to train their dogs may not be appropriate. However you can definitely use this while out and about with other people, and I agree with the idea of using kids if you can!

She forgives you.

You know that makes a lot of sense and it probably sound silly to say this but I hadn't thought of Summer's 'omg love!' for everyone in the same way as Mia's love for tennis balls (for example). It really is just another drive. I think part of why it never crossed my mind is that tennis balls are something I can control fully. If she loses her brain around them, then we just put them up. I can't tell all the other students to go away in class.

I've never had a big sniffer or anything like that. Mia in particular is so task and action oriented that getting her to want to work over anything else is not even a blip on the radar.

I need to re-buy control unleashed as it's gone somewhere into an abyss. I have never bought the puppy primer but I bet that would be a good investment for the future puppy.

^Aeri loses her brain when around her big jolly ball and other highly rewarding items, so this video is of me *using* the distraction as a reward. Basically what others are saying (Premack, use people as a reward, don't allow free access, etc.) but this is a visual so figured it might help.

Kes luuurves people as well, so we will do time out for visiting out of turn and he's required to do something for me before I cue him to say hi. It's helped a LOT.
