Whole hell of a lot cheaper than ending up in the ER with no health care
This. I get tax credits for the premiums so it's free (silver level plan), plus I qualified for no deductible and reduced co-pays. It's better than the insurance I had with my parents. I should be able to get my expensive meds for $10 a month.

If you don't make enough to qualify for reduced costs, then you are either eligible for medicaid (if your state expanded medicaid) OR you are not subject to tax penaties. But you still MUST apply through Marketplace, regardless of where you fall.

Have you actually applied, though? Once you apply it'll tell you what you can get for a tax credit, and that tax credit can be applied directly to your premium. Deductibles can be reduced, too. Mine's reduced down to $0.

ACA is no different, at a basic level, than being required by law to have car insurance. I'm lucky enough to (finally) have employer-provided health insurance again after being without for years. Kaiser has it's own set of snafu's, because let's face it: that's the nature of any giant beast.

I'm just happy they can't disqualify because of pre-existing conditions.

I looked and did the figures . I cant afford it and will just die at home if something happens to me.

Now if my governor had expanded medicaid in my state then it would be different , but he didn't so it's not.

It really depends on that crucial step.

It's snowing again. Argh.

Although it's supposed to be 55 and rainy tomorrow, so it will all melt again (yay) but still.

My co-workers are both sick... one is pretty sure he's just got a migraine because of the weather front moving in but he's over there huddled up in his coat and everything clearly not feeling well. The other one felt so bad he actually went home so he must feel REALLY bad.
And I'm over here like NO NO NO NO NO *spray Lysol* GERMS AWAY NO NO NO
