Default pet industry vent

I cleaned up a lot of pee and poop (and anal gland leakage and vomit and...) working at the vet clinic. Today I cleaned up urine in three places from a basset mix who ruined four bags of food with his delightful smelling urine.

And yes, he was intact.

People can be incredibly inconsiderate. At my job, it was almost always the same offenders who ruined merchandise and distracted us from doing our job to clean their messes. People need to learn to A) keep a very close eye on their dogs and B) recognize patterns and respond to them. Dog lifts a leg inside a store? Either don't bring him in anymore or keep him much closer and on a tighter leash.

Sheesh people, it's not rocket science.

Did you make them pay for it?? Every store*not petsmart/petco*/vets office I've been into would have made the person pay for the ruined inventory. It also makes people a little more aware of what their dogs are doing when they know anything messed up is coming out of their pocket.

No, we don't make them pay for it. It would have been nearly $200 in food, though.

Once, it happens... twice, you need to leave. THREE TIMES is just ridiculous!

I understand your annoyance. I am mentally incapable of walking into a store with my dog and averting my attention long enough for them to urinate on anything. (They are females, but I have the same policy with males.) What's the worst is when you see it coming and are not allowed to say anything. All you can do is wait for them to walk away and clean it up yourself.

My favorite is when I watch a person watch his/her dog take a dump in the waiting room and then the person doesn't say a word.

Yesssss. There's this minpin that comes in my store and always has stress diarrhea and it just leaks as he walks around and they pretend not to notice. And then people run it over with the carriages...yuck. Yuck yuck yuck.

I was privy once though to a little girl that squatted down in the middle of an aisle and just..peed. The mom didn't even...care? Didn't offer to clean up or anything...bah.

Somebody's kid once peed in our waiting room. Dropped trou and let 'er rip. So I'll pretty much believe people will do and let their dogs/kids do anything.

I hate when people don't say anything about it, and then you just happen upon it God knows how long after. I once watched from around the corner as a guy's dog peed on the cat trees we had. He just walked away and never said anything about it. I'm sure he probably thought he'd have to pay for everything that was peed on, so I guess I "get" it, but still so inconsiderate. I knew that dog was going to pee on something the way he was acting, and I think the owner did too the way he was holding onto him - please, don't go into a store if you know your dog is going to mark the merchandise. Blah.

The best happened the other day at work. Nice dog but spoiled, and owners didn't take the advice on me leashing him so they could grab the leash and take him outside. Ok fine.... let him out, he was fine, let him through the gate to see them, they did the high pitch baby voice thing and he put his paws up on 'daddywaddy' and pissed all over him. The guy's pants were nicely marked and light colored so it showed.

I thought it fitting that the dog ran through the whole grooming area, the kennel area and didn't leave a drop, but let 'daddywaddy' have it.

It made up for the guy before that that has boarded for three years and asked if we give the dogs water while they're with us (yes, there are buckets outside that are changed all the time, I have the muscles to prove it!), and the guy before that who was concerned that if we took his dogs to do agility and they ran off, would we go find them? (um, no, we don't take the boarding dogs out to teach them agility while they're boarded for 2 days....).
