I think you need to go to www.dogbreedinfo.com and goto the breed selector and look at the breeds that come up. Its a good webite. AS for the breeders, they sound like a Puppymill or BYB too me.

Just wanted to add, even though it has little relevance to this thread...Labradoodles are becoming a registered breed. I also hate the cutesy names. There's just something painfully amateur about it IMO.

Are they becoming registered with the AKC? Or some of those psuedo-registries for BYBs?
Not that I'm a big fan of the AKC; I'm not, but at least they pay lip service to SOME ethical standards.

What would steer me away from them is the fact that they are currently breeding 5 different breeds!
PS - show your Mom my avatar - my poodles don't have the balls of fur around their feet, etc. They have a very simple, short cut.

haha she didnt believe me that they were poodles. she said they were HUGE and when i said theyre poddles she said noooooo. and i just came back from the animal shelter and, even though it smelled really really bad, the dogs and puppies were all so cute and awesome. there were alot of cute puppies that will grow into big dogs but they were so small and i wished they would stay that size becuase i will kill my mom begging her for them. they were dobermans, german sheperds, etc. i did see some really cute chihuahuas. and the saddest part was when i was walking down the aisle, alot of dogs woke up, walked over to the gate, and started whining. i felt so bad for them because there was no way in the world that i would be able to get them. there was also a pitbull that wasa stray that was the skinniest dog ever! you could easily see the ribs and spine from a mile back. and it started whining and sitting down in front of the gate. there were doberman pinschers puppies that were the cutest pups ive seen before. do dobermans grow big and can i keep them in the house? i doubt it. i really want to go back and adopt a puppy but when i was in the car on the way back i was talking to my mom about getting a dog for my birthday over the summer. i decided unless my mom changes her attitude towards dogs, im not going to get one. although i was really po'ed i just dont want to see a dog suffer everyday. my mom said that we wouldnt be bringing the dog to the vet because theres no need for it. she says that they dont have to get shots and what not. and she said that they will not be aloud to step a foot into the house. she said she doestn care if it has short hair like a chihuahua, she thinks they smell and she doesnt want them ruining the house, so she said they will be staying out in the garage (a one car garage) the whole time. and if i want to play with it then i have to go out there and play with them. even if its winter, she wouldnt allow them to come in, a blanket will warm them up enough. i really dont want a dog to be treated this way so i decided that we're not going to get one. im goign to act sad for the next month and if she asks whats wrong then ill say that i want a puppy but she wont treat it right. that way ill try her to give in, hee hee. but thanks for all your time everyone and if anyone has any suggestions then please post. sorry for taking up your time too, since it came out to this.

Crazydog, I think your decision sounds very mature and responsible. One of these days you're going to be able to have a dog of your own, on your own terms. I feel sorry for your mom; she's missing out on so much, not the least of which is noticing and appreciating you for the loving and compassionate person you are.
I hope you'll stay with us and keep posting even though you're going to put off getting your dog. Just use this time to learn everything you can and ask any questions you want and you'll be ready when the time comes. Plus, we'd miss you if you left us!

yeah im staying so i can learn all i can about dogs. i thought my mom had changed her attitude towards dogs after roxy but it turns out that it made it worse after she spent a whole week cleaning the whole entire house (rug doctors, cleaners, etc.) after roxy left. i just wished she loved dogs as much as i did. and southern_ girl yeah i wanted to adopt that pit too. i felt so bad for it because when it was sitting down and whining you can really see that it even had a hard time sitting. but i know my mom.....im not even gonna go there. i feel so bad for all these dogs that were locked up in the shelter, waiting for someone to offer them a home.
.....i hope its a no-kill shelter.
