Debi, that's odd about Hammie's ears getting so dirty. You might want to check for mites. Bimmer's ears stay spotless, and as big as they are and with all the holes he sticks his head in after varmints you'd think they'd stay absolutely filthy.

I was just gonna say something similar
our yorkie, when we bought her from the breeder, her ears were already standing up, we check them constantly and they always stay nice and pink and cuuuuute hehehe

Ham's just been to the vet and they didn't see anything abnormal. They always check his ears since he had such a bad prior infection. I've actually never seen a dog's ears get so dirty. It's not just me, either...you can see his dirty ears a mile away. Course, it's better now that everything is frozen and there isn't so much dirt to get into.

Debi that is strange. Duke's one ear that stands stays cleaner than his other one that flops a bit. I'm amazed at the difference there is when I clean them.

You can't make stand up whats not meant to. If the puppy is a border collie x then borders ears aren't meant to be pricked. Unless you have them cropped like a dobermann then it probably wont happen. But I'm sure you will love him just the same.

Ohhh no doubt i will, hes quite the bundle of personality. It looks like they are actually standing up a little bit more these days. Somedays they'll stand up, somedays they'll flop, somedays one will stand and one will flop, he's still young so im just gonna wait and see what happens

Bimmer's did that one-ear-stand-up-one-ear-flop until he was about 6 months old. He's got HUGE ears for a dog his size. We joke that he's like the Wolf in Little Red Riding Hood . . . my, what big ears you have, and eyes and teeth!
