Congrats! He is a real cutie! There are lots of rescues on Facebook that are in Spain dealing with Podencos. Looking through their pictures might help figure out if there is anything else in the mix. Send me a PM if you want links to a few of them.

I told you before--but I'll say it again--he looks like a total love. How could you not smile at that face?

Podengo can have dark or even black pigment it just isn't accepted there are a few off colors in unregistered hunt pack in the US and fairly common in Portugal. Same with podenco breeds in Spain but both are fairly rare here.

Either way he is adorable I'm glad thinks are working out with everything Im sure you can wait to have hi hoe finally

Yeah, I've seen podencos with dark nose and eye pigment.

The thing about black noses in purebred beezers is the entire breed is liver and white, which is recessive. It would be like breeding two chocolate labs and getting a black lab. Just not possible without adding something else. The reason it's a disqualification is it shouldn't be possible, so if someone produced a black pigmented beezer it would, in theory, have to be a mix.

There can be weird random mutations, and it's possible something like that could happen. But it would be pretty random/rare.

And Amber, he is stunningly cute!!!! I keep forgetting how little he is until I see pics of him curled up. <3 <3 <3 And I LOVE the one little white tip on his ear!!! Adorable!!!

He is freaking adorable and I'm so glad you decided to keep him! He looks like a complete ham.

Name sounds perfect as well.

I don't mind if he is mixed or not. The only thing that would push me to hope I could get away with him being purebred is so that we could lure course for titles. There's always fun runs though so while we may not earn titles I can still run him.

I just noticed from rereading this thread that I was asked how he is doing since he was having the diarrhea issues. He is doing SO much better in that department. I think having him on a better food now is helping tremendously and I'm so glad he is starting to put on some weight. He doesn't seem to be able to hold it well past 4-6 hours. I'm going to have a vet check done to make sure he is healthy and that nothing is medically wrong with him. He'll be able to go to work with me though I'll probably have to hire a dog walker on days when I'm going to be gone a little longer.

He'll totally get an ILP no problem. He definitely looks pure enough for that.

See I'm worried they will shoot me down because of his nose since that's not allowed in the breed. Looking over the PAL/ILP registration form it states that it is for purebred dogs only who aren't able to be registered with AKC.

I think you'll be fine...

From AKC: Color
White or red, (from light, yellowish-red called "lion" to deep red), solid or in any combination. No color or pattern is preferable to the other. Disqualify any color other than white or red.

He's adorable! And looks so insanely happy in the videos that I watched (I just watched the first two). I haven't really been following many threads lately, but congrats on getting him and I'm sure he'll excel in whatever venue you want to pursue!
