I just youtubed this guy...for what little of his clips that haven't been pulled for 'copyright infringement'..holy crap. A puppy wrapped itself around it's owner and he basically said it was ungrateful for being cared for. What the hell? How did this guy get a tv show?

Good question. His show and "training" is horrible.

I hate this man so much. He makes me want to HUG Cesar... D: jk, but seriously, how does a mentally functioning human being feed into his abuse? He hangs dogs and belittles people for not hanging their dogs "nanana look how well I can hang your dog!" like it's a ****ing skill. He violently punches dogs in the face. If that whiny, scared Lab was truly a biter like he claims, Brad would be missing a hand for pulling that stunt. He yells at people and tells them they're annoying for asking questions. WTF!

The fact that he says he likes Victoria Stillwell is proof that he's a liar and spouts pure bullshit, with no knowledge of it. Victoria would TURF him!

This is the greatest quote ever... no one who knows anything about behavior modification, animal behavior, or basic training would say this:
"PL: One of our readers put the challenge out for you to define the following terms: operant conditioning, +CER, DRI, Counter-conditioning, threshold distance, desensitizing, LAT, CTT, ABI, ritualized vs. n0n-ritualized conflict resolution between dogs, aversives, what is a calming signal and why do dogs use them.

BP: I think it is ignorant when people over talk to their clients. “Your dog has OCD, territorial aggression, Possessive aggression with maternal aggression.” That’s great. But you didn’t give the client any information. If you’re the client, so how good is that answer? But if I sit down, walk through and explain each to a client, rather than saying the fancy terms, its different. I discourage my students to speak that way. I encourage them to be on the surface level with their clients and speak in terms they understand. It is friendlier and more understanding. My CTE’s then take more time with their clients, are not rushed, and that is part of our Customer Service.

All of those terms are straight from the Treat Training Industry Vocabulary. We don’t use them anyway! They are all clinical based. I get concerned when I hear trainers throwing these terms around."

Ohhh... so it's IGNORANT to be knowledgeable of SCIENTIFIC, factual behavior studies such as the quadrants of operant conditioning!? Clearly he is balking at the question, and does not understand any of those terms. He would rather beat and suppress dogs and humanize their behavior, because his clients couldn't do that themselves with no research whatsoever, of course. It boggles my mind that completely abusive, compulsive trainers get paid thousands to scare the crap out of people's dogs and treat their owners like morons to make them feel like they're getting trained by a prodigy. It's much more friendly & professional for him to say "STFU you're annoying me!" than to explain behavior for what it actually is rather than how it appears to the untrained dog owner.

Also, this: "PL: What about the other training methods did you disagree with?

BP: I feel that the other methods are using words and rewards to train a dog which is not languages that the dog actually understands."

Haha, umm, so reinforcers don't work? I suppose BF Skinner is an ignorant fool. Yes because dogs understand being mindlessly hung and slapped much better, that's really speaking their language. Just because he's too dumb to understand or utilize rewards doesn't mean they're useless... it means he's useless. And he's the one who uses ridiculous words, and the poor dogs have no idea what's going on. I don't think dogs understand you screaming "THAT IS NOT HOW TO BEHAVE!" while being scruffed and shaken.

I feel so bad for all of those dogs. They have the most horribly stressed body language.

LMAO!!! fuhreal.

It pisses me off beyond belief when people say they are better trainers because they use "massage" or toys to reward. You're still using rewards, bitch! They are just much lower value and less effective than food - a necessity for survival!

@ihartgonzo I just want to hug Cesar cuz he's cute :P & I guiltily admit that I mostly watch his show cuz I find him sorta attractive in a cutesy way (as he is much MUCH shorter then I ) I also watch so I can further my knowledge on calming signals.

HAhaha, I think he's a little dipshit. But he has much better people skills than Brad, that's for sure, even though he belittles women & talks down to people... it's in a much more playful way. It could be the accent. Brad's shrill sniveling voice is unbearable. My trainer told me today that CM is going to become a life coach for people, which I think is a MUCH better job for him. He's way better with people than he is dogs; even though he says women are weak and cannot be leaders. No wonder his wife left him.

The Dog Whisperer is a great way to study calming signals! As every dog he touches is blatantly displaying them, and he's ignoring them and pushing them to the point of shutting down. Or in his word's "calm submissive".
