I'm releasing this puppy into the wild.

Oh. My. God.

When I brought Bean home, he would bark and scream and bite the crate door and carry on when put to bed and then intermittently throughout the night. This quickly faded to fussing to go out sometime before dawn, and then quieting back down after being taken out to potty.

The past two nights he has been a NIGHTMARE. He is screaming his fool head off, no matter what I do. He was up numerous times last night barking. He doesn't shut up after I potty him. I really would like to kill him. There is nowhere that I can put him in my house that I won't be able to hear him. I just pray that he's not disturbing the neighbors through my nice little townhouse walls.

I am about ready to release him into the wild.

Hmm toys in the crate? a special treat/chew for just when he's in there?

Katalin wasn't keen on her ex pen at all at first - she screamed her head off and kicked at it for the whole time she was in there at first. Then she sort of got indifferent about it - and sometimes she goes in there herself for a lay down now.

Sorry - don't have too much puppy experience besides my own puppy :/

Are any of the other dogs crated beside him? Maybe a warm body close by would help?

If by "releasing into the wild" you mean "leaving at Shai's house"...then go for it

If not...well Mira was horrible. Could hear her from the sidewalk out by the street even when she was in the basement. She finally settled down when I slept on the floor next to her crate for a couple nights. Too bad it took me two weeks of hell to figure that out.

Dang it, I was gonna volunteer my backyard as the wild...

My only suggestion is I sleep in these. They are the same kind people use in factories and plants. Probably won't completely block out the noise of a screaming puppy, but it might save you from going completely crazy...

I had to put a leash on Storee as a puppy, then thread it through the back of the crate windows. If she started to fuss too much I'd give it a tug and she'd settle. Had to hook the leash on something on the other end though because she'd very quietly pull it all into the crate then screeaaam! again knowing I'd have to open the door to get the leash.

I believe "the wild" is my backyard... I'll start keeping an eye out for him. Maybe he'll find Lincoln out there.
