I am thinking so too. Racers have their ears cut off as well but are often stained with Henna too. Do you have Caravan hounds JoLeigh?

Not yet Im hoping to get my guy next year I was supposed to get a boy out of my friends last litter but the timing wasn't right

Why do they cut the ears?

They crop the ears for various reasons. To keep out ticks and diseases, so the game they are hunting or the dogs they are racing don't shred them. Some are even cut with chunks remaining as identification so everyone knows whose dog is whose. Many don't have their ears cut but it is a common practice.

JoLeigh I can't wait for pictures of your pup! Caravan hounds and Xigous are so hard to find info and pictures of!

What a lovely boy! Are you intending for him to just be a pet? Or has his back leg healed?

I wish there was more info on Xigous! I love their heads

His back leg has healed but there is an old break in it so every once in awhile he limps for a bit. We'll get him on glucosamine and discuss his X-rays with my vet when he gets here.
I didn't really have any plans for him other than being a pet. We'll see how things go and wether he shows any inclination towards agility or lure coursing if my vet gives him the all clear.
Got word an hour ago he will not be comming on Tuesday after all
The girl who was accompanying him and a second rescue dog had to change her flight to 2 days earlier which does not give enough time to get the needed health certificates from the government vet. So we are back to searching for a flight companion for him, another saluki and another fuzzy dog. Waiting is so haaaaaard! I want my boy right now!
