Default Any good places to host pictures for a website?

I'm in the process of making our club's website, and the one thing that's REALLY frustrating me is that the built in image host only allows images in .jpg or .gif format, which means the quality SUCKS. Everything gets blurry and pixelated once it's uploaded. I have the banner on my DA account now because it's all I could think of. I suppose I could make a DA account for the club and use it, but I was wondering if there was anything more convenient. Essentially, I at least want to be able to upload .png images and have transparency supported.

I *think* Flickr lets you upload .png images.

My only problem with Flickr is that it's limited unless you pay. I'm doing the website free for the club, and we don't have the funds to pay for an external image host. So it pretty much has to be free.

I don't think high end JPG sucks...

This is a JPG photo, it's plenty clear for a website

Photobucket hands down. I have a Flickr pro, but only because that's my current business. I have had photobucket for years and never had a problem with it, PNG, JPG, GIF, Animated GIF's, they all upload fine and look great, even when I was left behind in dial-up land.

JPG definitely doesn't mean poor quality, but it does mean a large file size and more loading time. Go JPG for photos; things like text banners and simple graphics (like a big F icon linking to a Facebook page) should be in PNG to reduce page loading time.

Depending on what kind of webhosting they bought, there should be FTP support, in which case you can just FTP in and upload stuff regardless of file type.

Yeah I also have to recommend photobucket. I've been using them for years never any down time and 100% free. Go for it!

Personally, id suggest a new server. There are lots of free servers, and I'd never pick one that doesn't support png

I don't have a choice in the matter. A member donated the website, and we're gong to make do with what we have.

I'll have to take a look at photobucket again. I used to use it all the time but haven't used it in a while. Thanks!

Photobucket is public. Even if you make it private, you can still find a lot of info.

ImgShack is private, hosts many different file types, and generally seems to keep the quality as long as the quality was there to begin with.

If you need any help with coding or whatever, I'll be happy to help. Free services webmaster, here.
