Default So glad my doofus dog is ..well...a doofus

Jules and Aesop were hanging out on the back patio this morning when we heard barking (mainly Jules). This was followed moments later by a woman's voice. We assumed, as we headed out to call the dogs in, that it was the neighbor, as she likes her wine a lot and will sometimes talk at Aesop over the fence. Instead, we found a woman from the power company on the patio. Aesop, always game for a new human friend, was dancing around her feet

My husband kindly asked WTF and she said she was turning the power off for nonpayment. As our bills are paid, thankyoumuch, he kindly repeated his question. Only then did she recheck her paperwork and realize she was not even on the right street She said 'it happens all the time'

If we had not happened to be home, we would have come home after 6 to a house with no power for 8 hours, and no air. In Arizona. They don't come out after hours so we'd have been very uncomfortable until they were able to come out.

Highly, highly annoying.

On the upside, I'm glad she went into the yard with the dog, although giant, who likes people. I'm not sure Goose would be so forgiving of a stranger.

YIKES. I'd have been livid! Anyone but Enzo in the yard and someone would have gotten bitten. :/

I am really surprised Jules didn't put up more of a fuss. I think they were more in shock about a stranger popping around the side of the house

"It happens all the time." WTF????

Why don't they hire people who can read and match the address on the work order to the street sign?

I can't imagine coming home and having my power shut off for no reason! Good thing you saw her.

I have no idea... It's not even like the streets surrounding us have similar sounding names...

How odd slash upsetting!

Did you call to complain? Or would that even do any good?

We are going to. I think a complaint should be on file at the least. Using caution to ensure you're actually at the right house should be common practice, particularly when you're in temps into the 100s

Wtmfff!!! How dumb can you get, srsly! I really hope you complain strongly and demand some actions be taken. Your dogs could've been suffering because of that woman's stupid mistakes. D:<

Good dog Aesop! I would feel the same if it was Fozzie. If Gonzo was out there, she definitely wouldn't be turning the power off. She'd be running for her life. Did you name Aesop after Aesop Rock or the ancient philosopher?

Definitely would be calling to complain and I'd probably be calling whatever local news station likes to do investigations. If this 'happens all the time', who's health (human and/or animal) has been put in danger because of their errors?
