Default Kind of a silly question.....

We now have our first real snow, and the dogs have had a blast running and playing.....but when we came in, no matter how much I dry them off...I am getting such a doggie smell!!!!!! PEEUUUU. It's too cold to give them a bath, so how do you keep that 'smelly dog' syndrome at bay??? Is there a spray or something I could buy that might freshen them a bit without harming their skin? (if I weren't worried about sensitivity...I'd be dousing them with perfume at this point! LOL)

I have a doggie spray that I use on Brady sometimes in situations like those. He sneezes a couple of times but it does make him smell better in a pinch. They have baby powder dog sprays too for sensitive skin. My mom has some for her lab, Maddie, but Maddie is not a big fan of smelling like baby powder.

You can get it at Petsmart, or even Target has some too. You could give it a try.

How often do you bathe your dog? Just wondering.

When it is warm...they both get a bath regularly. It is a MAJOR chore to bathe Ham...he is a BIG boy. Addie isn't terribly fond of a bath...but in the warm months I still wash her every 2 weeks. It is very cold now...the bath is out of the question. They are too big for the house, and obviously outside washing is out of the question. I sponge bath them (especially when wet and muddy) and they get brushed daily. I've only noticed their little doggie odor today...after getting very wet playing in the snow. I hate to admit this of my babes....but they smell like..........dogs.

Oh, Debi ~

Shiva came in stinking like cow - badly - covered from humongous head to prodigious toes in cow-pee mud last winter. HAD to have a bath! I threw her (well, more like shoved, pushed, cajoled and threatened) her into the shower. Of course, I put on an OLD sweatshirt and pants first! She spent the rest of the evening on a pile of old blankets curled up on the sofa.

I'm going to get one of those shower heads you can take down off the hook and use as a hand-held in case it happens again!

Renee, cow-peed mud! I can't stop laughing and feeling so sorry for you and Shiva at the same time. Max comes in with mud; now I don't feel as bad. After spending the night under blankets, Shiva might get used to that attention and do it again. Good luck!

Shiva is a black hole for attention.
