Default Very jealous dog.

My grandma recenly got a cockatiel. she already had a 5 year old rescue dog named Zeena. Since the bird came into her house Zeena has been peeing on the carpet and barking at us whenever we talk to the bird. Just last night my grandma told me that Zeena peed on her bed. We make shure we give Zeena TONS of attention. Is there anything we could do do make Zeena welcome the bird in to the house?

Thank you so much in advance for all of the advise,

Every single time you pet the bird or play with the bird, give Zeena a treat or whatever her favorite thing is. That way she begins to associate the bird with something she likes and wants.

It wouldn't hurt to go back and do some reinforcement training sessions with Zeena, either. Go back to the beginning; sit, stay, etc., but make it fun. She'll look forward to her "special" time with you.

I think your dog will eventually adjust to the bird. She's probably not used to it.
