I've been playing volleyball in mine for like 9 months straight. I also use mine for mowing, going to the dog park, going around town, walks... etc..
They've held up great, no holes. They're dirty, but that's cause I don't keep 'em clean.

Different shoes fit different feet and wear completely differently
 Every pair of Reeboks I've ever had has fallen apart way too soon, but other people can wear them forever. Filas (go figure, lol) and some Avias and Merrells fit my feet perfectly -- I've never been able to wear Nike's without feeling like I'm going to be crippled for life; the arch is just all wrong for me, but look at all the zillions of people who swear by them. Pick the ones that fit your feet best, and chances are, if they're a reputable brand, they're going to hold up well because you'll be walking/running in them with the right foot position.
