< side note-they played that song near the end of the reception and half the fundamentalist family members left in exodus...> ![]() 92 in the shade here. I lived in Florida for seven years and this is still mighty hot, I put Sophie in the tub and just wet her down, we'll go to the woods when the sun goes down. Anyone have random tips for coping with heat waves??? |

I have no idea Kaydee! Here at my doggy daycare, we've stocked up on super cheap popsicles, the type for kids of all ages.. orange is going down a treat right now! For those that are more particular, we take low sodium chicken stock, and freeze it in cubes or paper cups, and dole them out after a play session outside. Dogs are loving it! Tried adding ice to the water dishes.. mistake number 1 LOL.. dishes became digging troughs, and the ice melted before the dogs even had a chance to cool tongues or paws!
We have turtle type sandboxes filled with water for the dogs that want to wade/swim/splash, but for the most part all of my dogs are in, flaked out, and watching for my next foray into the freezer. We also have a couple of tarps on the floor in the back room, and we lay wet/froxen towels from the freezer on there for the bull dogs to chillax on. Makes for some extra laundry, but the bulldogs loved it! Hope you're finding ways to cool down too! If not, wet a towel, throw it in the freezer for an hour, and wrap the roll of towel around the back of your neck.. niccccce! |

I bought a plastic, hard sided kiddy pool at walmart for $7 last summer. I'll fill it up a few times when it's really bad.
Today though, we're just hanging out in the basement where it's cool, running the air conditioning full tilt. My poor long haired black baby is going to the groomers tomorrow to have her undercoat brushed out and get a trim. Hopefully that will help! It's 95* here now...BLEH! |

I'm worried the air conditioner may not be doing enough... I should ask somebody to freeze some water bottles

It is HOT. Luckily we've got the big inground pool here so Jackson has been getting in/out but even that tired him out quickly. He wanted back inside after about 8 dives, LOL. We had to dip the other dogs in the pool a few times because they won't get in voluntarily. Otherwise, we've been in the AC.
