I'm a little concerned about Summer. Lately she's been snorting more often than usual. She's sniffly sounding sometimes. When she pants, it's LOUD, but it's always been loud. She was also snoring.
I can't decide if I should take her in or not. Just now she was lying down and moved and it was a lot of sniffling sounding. She's been active and otherwise fine.

WHen I told the vet tech how much better Neccy has done since I put her on grain free she said she too had done the same and the dog that she had that had respiratory problems cleared up. She said they had tried everything to no avail. Don't know if this applies here but it is the first thing I thought of.

I might try giving her the proper dose of Benadryl to see if it's allergy related... That's my firs though anyway. If the Benadryl helps you kinda know what you're looking at, at least.

Has she gained any weight? Tipper started snoring after she got a little chunky (thanks to my inability to do math).

One of my dogs does this depending on the pollens outside.

Renegade is notably sniffier when the pollen is higher.

I think it may be allergies as her eyes are watering bad lately. I really have tried to pinpoint when that started and I think it was when we moved up to Oklahoma. I know my allergies are worse here than in TX too.
It's mostly sniffling and some snorting. She already eats raw/grain free kibble/grain free canned. She's not gained any weight at all.

She just keeps snorting more and more. I am considering a vet appt on friday but I'm not sure. It's infrequent but often enough it's starting to concern me. I feel like I take them in at the drop of a hat though.

I'd give some benedryl, see if it helps at all, then at least you know if it's allergies or something else.
though I'm not a vet and I'd go with your guts.

Ditto on the benedryl. If that makes a difference you're saving some money at the vet, if you still go.
One of my dogs had issues in the winter every year with 'allergies' and eucalyptus oil massaged in her ears twice a day for a few days cleared it up every time. They do get sick if they lick it, but the ears absorb and of course it's close enough to their nose to help inhale it too. Breaks up mucus. |
