Default Biography recommendations

As I was saying in the interest thread, I would love to get into reading some biographies. So many interesting people with very, very interesting, fulfilling, tragic, beautiful lives.

So do you have any recommendations? Just name a book/s with a very brief description of what it's about. Or even just a name! I can google.

Steve Jobs. I hate Apple but his bio is on my list along with Linus Torvalds and Bill Gates.

I take spells where I read bios, but I find that I read them by eras -- like a period of reading where I went through every bio I could find on the Golden Age of Hollywood, Garbo, Bette Davis, Gloria Swanson, Jean Harlow, Gable and Lombard, D. W. Griffith, Edith Head. I even went so far as to amass a collection of books of photography from the era. Then there was the Disraeli era; Disraeli, Gladstone, Sarah Bernhardt. The Renaissance . . . It gives you a very personal view of history!

Sometimes I get hung up on subjects. I went through artists, music, writers, politics . . .

Pick something you're interested in and read bios of those who were involved.

Yes, that's what is exciting to me... the personal view of history. I think I may go to the library and just see what jumps out at me and go from there. Thanks for the ideas, it'll give me a good list of what to watch out for in the library!

I'm a walking book search kidz...
It depends how old you are, some random names to look up I've read in the last year-

Life-Keith Richards...did lots and lots of drugs and would absolutely do it again...the master speaks

Shorty from "Pit Boss"-Hokey show but a very interesting life story

Inside the Kingdom- Carmen Bin Laden, after you read about women in Saudi culture you appreciate how free we are

Piece of Cake-Cupcake Brown -a dark disturbing read that ends amazingly positive

Eric Clapton...did lots and lots of drugs and would try not to do them again
